Synchronization Stability of Interconnected Microgrids with Fully Inverter-based Distributed Energy Resources

In this paper, the synchronization stability challenges of same-rated frequency interconnected microgrids (IMGs) with fully inverter-based generation units are studied. type weak power grid low X/R ratios and line impedances, no strong source a high-inertia rating exists which other can be synchronized. Two IMGs controlled using pinning consensus-based control architecture considered. The inrush flow at beginning interconnection process is modeled analyzed. This affected by voltage/phase/frequency difference IMG points common coupling. A small-signal model obtained that includes unit, analyzed based on sensitivity analysis most important operational parameters. addition, transient nonlinear under study as implemented in SimPowerSystems/MATLAB investigated. Stable more challenging than multi-area grids grid-connected MGs. However, still performed selecting limited ranges for gains threshold values algorithm. Nevertheless, different disturbances such high load conditions cause instability.
